Gets frustrated with class easily. Instilled confidence in my public speaking abilities, encouraged me to enter speech and debate tournament. Valuable skills learned.

  Took Joanne's class CMT 1A as a required class. As a person who really dislikes speaking to the public, Joanne made the class fun, insightful and gave good feedback. State what you want to talk about, say what you mean, you said what you said, end of speech. I recommend taking her class. If you have questions email her! She's very responsive!

  I took Elements of Public Speaking with Professor Babin. She is knowledgable, enthusiastic, and charismatic, but what I admire most about Professor Babin, is her infectious passion for communication and public speaking. 10/10. I highly recommend taking this course if you can.

  Professor Babin is an amazing teacher, I really had a good time taking her class. Her only requirement for her speeches is a positive attitude and self-confidence. Really fun teacher and made the class really enjoyable.

  Professor Babin is a very good professor. She is very upfront about what she wants. She also helps you with your speech subjects during her office hour. You have to work on your speeches to get a good grade. The due dates are very fair in this class. I would recommend her to everyone I know

  Kinda a great prof. I was worried about this Communication class because I am shy at the same time in a class with many locals. Have to really work to earn A or B. A lot of short papers and presentations alone and with group (which I'm afraid of). Luckily, half of my course was conducted online due to COVID-19 so we meet and have final on Zoom

  not an easy A you have to work for it. she grades really hard. dont know anyone in my class who got an A on a speech. all of the paper work is easy to get an A on, only hard part is speaking. gave two extra credit opportunities that were worth 2.5% and 10% which is the main reason why i got an A

  I thought a speech class would be an easy A. Wrong! You have to work for your A. Write outlines and really work to improve on your delivery. This class REALLY makes you a better speaker. It is not easy, but it is worth your time. Prof Babin gives great feedback, actually wants to see you improve. This class does require a lot of time and effort.

  Babin is really pretty nice, and she is super funny. So easy to have a good time in class, but she does make it kinda hard to get an A. There is essentially no hw except for writing the speeches which is cool, but don't procrastinate. If you hate speaking in public and just wanna pass she's a pretty solid option

  She is really funny and fun to have in class. Her class is clear, easy to do and is really fun! Because it's a group speech class, you get to know other students pretty well; we would present and act in skits that she will gladly join your skit. It was a great experience with her.

  Joanne is kind, energetic, funny and wants you to do well. Her classes are a great low-risk environment if you're leery of public speaking. Guidelines crystal clear, little to no testing, everyone in the same boat. There's plenty of work involved, but by the end of the semester you'll just be having fun.

  Cool teacher who gives great feedback on speeches. Will note your improvement and put that in consideration towards your grade. Will stay after class to help you brainstorm your topic and has a wacky sense of humor. Public speaking was hard for me as I am a shy person but this class definitely helped me! You will also feel close to your classmates!

  Speech 1A is not easy given the amount of time I spent in this class, and I just not too fond to give speech in front of people. Babin didn't really make the class easier, but she was VERY encouraging. She did pay attention to your performance as the course progress. You'll be rewarded if you show improvement.Extreme clear in lectures/expectations.

  Took her group speech class, fun and pretty easy. You'll form friendships with the people in your groups. Babin is HILARIOUS, very sarcastic and doesn't miss a beat. 4 group presentations, 2 papers, a midterm and a final. Easy peasy. Take her!
