He was a Medical Officer in the United States Navy and served as a Lieutenant in the Pacific during WWII. He was a resident at Baltimore City Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Montreal Neurological Institute, and North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was Surgeon-In-Chief of the Department of Neurological Surgery at RI Hospital from 1954 through 1985 and attained the academic title of Clinical Professor Emeritus of Clinical Neuroscience, Brown University School of Medicine.
